Holodomor Memorial Day

On Holodomor Memorial Day, Canadians pause to remember the horrific act of genocide committed by the Soviet Union against the people of Ukraine from 1932 to 1933.

Today is a day to remember the millions of men, women, and children who were starved to death, and to honour the survivors who carry their stories across generations. Lakeland is home to the highest percentage of Ukrainian Canadians of any federal riding and the symbols of Ukrainian culture are everywhere in our communities.

Today and every day we resolve, never forget. Never again.
