Shannon Stubbs New Conservative Public Safety Shadow Minister

Shannon Stubbs, the Member of Parliament for Lakeland, is the new Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Shadow Minister for the Conservative Official Opposition, after Ms. Stubbs was appointed to this position by new Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole.

“I am excited to take on this new responsibility, to keep being a voice for Canadians who are vulnerable and fed up with a lack of action on crime, and to advocate for law abiding firearms owners who the Liberals continue to target,” said Ms. Stubbs. “I am grateful to Erin for trusting me with this critical file, and at this time when public safety is especially crucial to our country's future and economic recovery, and for his efforts to unite Conservatives to focus on defeating Prime Minister Trudeau and working to get Canada back on track.”

Ms. Stubbs has been active on public safety issues, passing Private Members Motion M-167, which was a call to action to combat rural crime, in the previous parliament. She met with communities, rural crime watches, and front-line law enforcement officers from coast to coast to raise attention to the crisis of rural crime and lack of resources for front line law enforcement.

Ms. Stubbs said, “Erin O’Toole is a leader who is also serious about addressing western alienation right now. Only an Erin O’Toole led Conservative government can begin to undo the devastation caused to Lakeland’s oil and gas workers, farmers and agricultural producers, and their families, and communities. I just hope all Canadians recognize how precarious the future of Canada is right now, before it is too late.”
