Shannon Stubbs Reflects on Andrew Scheer's Decision to Step Down as Leader
Shannon Stubbs, the Conservative Member of Parliament for Lakeland and Shadow Minister for Natural Resources released the following statement on Andrew Scheer’s announcement he will be stepping down as leader of the Conservative Party of Canada:
Shannon Stubbs Unimpressed with Liberal Throne Speech
Ottawa, ON - There is nothing in the Liberal Throne Speech that indicates this Liberal government will change their direction on natural resources – in fact, the Liberals are doubling down on the approach that enflamed regional tensions and caused the current economic and national unity crisis. What the Liberal Throne Speech reveals is that the Liberals are willing to barter away Western Canadian oil and gas jobs to appease the Bloc Quebecois in order to hold onto power. The jobs of struggling families in Canada’s energy sector should not be a bargaining chip to this Prime Minister.
Shannon Stubbs Reappointed Shadow Minister for Natural Resources
Shannon Stubbs, the Member of Parliament for Lakeland is reappointed by Conservative leader Andrew Scheer as the Conservative Shadow Minister for Natural Resources. She issued the following statement:
Conservatives call on Trudeau Liberals To Reverse Harm Done To Canada’s Natural Resource Workers
This week, Minister Sohi has the opportunity to listen to his provincial counterparts instead of ignoring the continued calls of the Premiers to cancel the Liberals’ job killing carbon tax, reverse the anti-resource and anti-pipeline Bill C-69, end the oil export ban Bill C-48, and give back power over economic development to the North that the Liberals removed in Bill C-88.
Prime Minister Trudeau’s Disastrous Shipping Ban Bill Will Devastate Energy Sector
Today is a bad day for Canada’s energy sector and the entire Canadian economy. Bill C-48 will help landlock Canadian energy exports and cost the Canadian economy billions of dollars. It will rob Indigenous communities in Northern BC and across the Prairies of potential economic development opportunities.
Liberal Appointed Senators Rescue Justin Trudeau’s Plan to Landlock Canadian Oil
Kelly Block, Conservative Shadow Minister for Transport, and Shannon Stubbs, Conservative Shadow Minister for Natural Resources, released a statement following the vote on Bill C-48 in the Senate:
“Conservatives disagree in the strongest terms with the decision by Liberal appointed senators in the Senate to rescue Justin Trudeau’s plan to land-lock Canadian oil and gas. This legislation is a slap in the face to out-of-work, under-employed and struggling energy workers from coast to coast.
B.C. Court of Appeal Ruling That TMX is Federal Jurisdiction
Conservatives are pleased with the B.C. Court of Appeal’s decision today reaffirming that inter-provincial pipeline projects fall under federal jurisdiction. However, major hurdles still exist to building pipelines, like the Trans Mountain Expansion.
Liberal Delay Of Trans Mountain Expansion Decision
“Today’s announcement confirms the Liberals never had a plan to meet the 90 day deadline to make a decision on the Trans Mountain Expansion by May 22nd.
Trudeau still failing to move forward on pipeline projects
Lakeland, AB – Shannon Stubbs, the Conservative Shadow Minister for Natural Resources, today released the following statement regarding the National Energy Board’s recommendation to the Liberal cabinet on the Trans Mountain Pipeline:
“Today’s recommendation from the National Energy Board, while positive, does not get us anywhere closer to the pipeline getting built. All it does is put the decision back in the hands of the same Liberal cabinet that failed to start construction in the first place.
Justin Trudeau’s Job-Killing Carbon Scheme
Ottawa, ON – The Honourable Ed Fast, Conservative Shadow Minister for Environment and Climate Change, and Shannon Stubbs, Shadow Minister for Natural Resources, today released the following statement regarding Justin Trudeau’s fuel standard regulations:
“Today, Justin Trudeau’s Liberals announced one more element of their job-killing carbon scheme. Their new fuel regulations will force industry to pay $230 dollars for every tonne of emissions reduced, dramatically increasing operating costs and putting Canada at an even further competitive disadvantage. These fuel regulations are in addition to the job-killing carbon tax.
